Jewelry Store Robbery
January 21, 2026 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that on January 18, 2026, at approximately 1:02 p.m., the Yuba City
Police Department received multiple 911 calls and a panic alarm reporting a robbery in progress at a jewelry store in the 400 block of Palora Avenue.
Three masked individuals entered the store carrying hammers while a fourth person waited in a vehicle outside. Several display cases were smashed, and jewelry was taken. During the incident, the store owner was struck in the chest with a hammer and suffered minor injuries.
A witness followed the suspects’ vehicle as it left the area and provided real-time updates to police. The vehicle was later abandoned near Richland Road and Estates Drive, where all four suspects fled on foot. Police quickly responded to the area and, with the assistance of a police drone, safely located and detained two of the suspects hiding in a nearby residential yard. The remaining two suspects were not located and believe to have fled the area.
Yuba City Police Department Investigation unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. They later determined the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen out of Oakland CA, earlier that same day.
The store owner estimates approximately $1 million in gold jewelry was taken during the robbery. Several pieces of jewelry were recovered from inside the abandoned vehicle. Police are working closely with the business owners to identify the recovered items, and it is believed some of the stolen jewelry remains missing.
One of the two suspects was identified as 32-year-old Maurice Lee Jackson of Oakland, who was booked into the Sutter County Jail on charges related to robbery and assault. The second suspect is a juvenile and was booked into the Tri-County Youth Development Center.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Yuba City Police Department.
