Multiple Illegal Firearms and Cocaine Seized During NET-5 Operation
February 5, 2026 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that on January 28, 2026, agents with the Yuba-Sutter Narcotic and Gang Enforcement Task Force (NET-5), with assistance from the Yuba City Police Department, served a search warrant in the 1400 block of Knights Row in Yuba City. The target of the search warrant, 23-year-old Jose Salgado of Yuba City, had violent felony convictions and two prior strikes, and was believed to be in possession of firearms and ammunition.
During the search, agents located and seized multiple firearms, including several loaded handguns, a short-barreled rifle, ammunition, firearm components, and high-capacity magazines. Investigators also located approximately 27 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, and a digital scale consistent with narcotics sales.
Salgado was arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail on multiple felony charges including:
- Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person (PC 29800(a)(1))
- Possession of ammunition by a prohibited person (PC 30305(a)(1))
- Possession of an assault weapon (PC 30605(a))
- Possession of a short-barreled rifle (PC 33215)
- Possession of firearms with altered or removed serial numbers (PC 23920(a))
- Possession of a controlled substance for sale (HS 11351)
- Possession of a controlled substance while armed (HS 11370.1(a))
Bail was set at $150,000.
This investigation reflects the continued commitment of NET-5 and the Yuba City Police Department to removing illegal firearms and dangerous narcotics from our community through proactive enforcement and regional collaboration.
The investigation was forwarded to the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
