Hit-and-Run Collision in Santee
March 31, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday, March 24,
2026, at approximately 1:50 p.m., deputies responded to the 10100 block of Mission Gorge Road following reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a juvenile operating an e-motorcycle. Preliminary investigation indicates the rider was traveling in the roadway (not on an e bike), creating a traffic hazard, when they were struck by a passing motorist. The impact caused the rider to lose control and fall from the e-motorcycle.
The driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival.
Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the juvenile rider to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. While deputies were on scene, several additional juvenile riders operating e-motorcycles fled the area, riding over center medians and into oncoming traffic, nearly causing additional collisions. Deputies were not pursuing these individuals and were present solely in response to the original collision.
It is currently unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident. The Santee Sheriff's Traffic Unit is actively investigating. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has additional information is encouraged to contact the Santee Sheriff's Station at (619) 956-4000.
