Primo ‘Nose’ Best: K9 Sniffs Out Cocaine on Highway 

April 1, 2026 – Yuba County, Ca – Yuba County Sheriff’s Office officials report that earlier in March while YCSO noseconducting interdiction on Highway 70, a proactive traffic enforcement stop conducted by the Yuba County P.O.P Team resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics, reinforcing ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking within the community.

During the stop, our narcotics detection K9 Primo was utilized and conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle, ultimately alerting to the presence of controlled substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of over half a pound of cocaine, within the vehicle.

The driver, 26-year-old Julian Ayala of Palermo was taken into custody without incident and now faces multiple felony charges related to the possession and transportation of narcotics for sale.

This arrest highlights the continued effectiveness of proactive policing and the critical role that the P.O.P team plays in identifying and removing dangerous drugs from Yuba County streets.
