In-Custody Death 

April 27, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on April 24, 2026, deputies from the Robert Presley Detention Center responded to an inmate experiencing a medical emergency inside a holding cell of the jail. Custody staff and jail medical personnel immediately administered medical aid, and responding paramedics transported the inmate to a local hospital. On April 25, 2026, the inmate’s medical condition continued to decline, and he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Investigators from the Riverside Sheriff’s Corrections Central Investigations Bureau and the Coroner’s Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate was identified as Brian Waterman, a 38-year-old resident of Jurupa Valley. There were no signs of foul play, and Waterman’s family has been notified of his death.
