Homicide Investigation 

May 20, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 1:00 a.m., deputies from the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 3000 block of Grant Street, in the unincorporated community of Riverside County known as Home Gardens, regarding an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, deputies located a 47-year-old male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but the paramedics ultimately pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

During the investigation, homicide investigators identified the victim in this case as Carlos Villa, a 47-year-old resident of Corona.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Office- Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. No arrests have been made, and investigators are working to identify the suspect(s) involved. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
