May 22, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office officials report that last week, Sheriff’s Central Division POP Deputies observed a gold Toyota Sienna van driving on Stockton Boulevard in South Sacramento, and recognized it as a vehicle that had previously been reported stolen to the Sacramento Police Department during a domestic violence restraining order violation investigation.

Deputies also knew the named suspect associated with the vehicle, Mohammed Khan, had outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants, including elder abuse and violation of a domestic violence restraining order.

Deputies conducted a high-risk stop of the vehicle and Khan was detained without incident.

Sacramento County Probation authorized a probation violation hold and Khan was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he was booked on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, vehicle theft, probation violation, and his outstanding warrants.

Khan remains in custody at the Sacramento County Main Jail on $60,000 bail and is next scheduled to appear in court on June 2. Khan’s booking photo is not eligible for public release per California law, as state law classifies his crimes as “non-violent.”

Units like our Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Teams are slated to be cut if Sacramento County follows through with their proposed budget cuts to the Sheriff’s Office.
