August 6, 2026 – Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they are now joined by the FBI, is intensifying its investigation into the deadly shooting in unincorporated Morgan Hill. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of those responsible.

This joint investigation brings significant federal resources and technical support as investigators work to identify those responsible for this horrific crime, in which seven people were shot. This expanded partnership underscores the urgency of identifying those responsible and reflects a coordinated commitment to public safety.

Sheriff’s Office detectives continue to actively pursue leads, conduct interviews, and gather information related to the incident. The shooting occurred Saturday, July 25, 2026, during a pop‑up style birthday party announced on social media, drawing hundreds of attendees to a rural property along Hale Avenue. Deputies were originally dispatched to the scene after reports of bottles being thrown at passing vehicles. As the first units arrived, gunfire was heard.

“With hundreds of people in attendance, someone knows something,” said Sheriff Robert Jonsen. “We’ve asked for the FBI’s assistance, and we are calling on our community to help identify those responsible for this heinous crime. We are grateful the FBI is stepping forward and encouraging others to do the same.”

The FBI has established a dedicated digital media tip line. Anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting and captured photos, video, or other digital content is asked to upload those files directly to: www.fbi.gov/morganhillshooting. Even if you believe your footage does not show the shooting itself, it may contain valuable information that could assist investigators.

"Those responsible for this senseless shooting should know that the FBI and our law enforcement partners at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office will use every available resource to identify and hold them accountable,” said FBI San Francisco Special Agent in Charge Scott Schelble. “The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 because we believe someone has information that can help move this investigation forward. No piece of information is too small, and your tip could make a difference in bringing justice to the victims, their families, and the Morgan Hill community."
