Road Rage Suspect Arrested 

August 9, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Friday, July 31, 2026, deputies assigned to the Moreno Valley Sheriff Station's Special Enforcement Team began an investigation into allegations of a subject brandishing a firearm during a road rage incident. During the investigation, deputies obtained a vehicle description for the suspect, who was later identified as Germaine Wade Murphy, a 33-year-old resident of Cathedral City. Deputies also learned Murphy had a previous conviction for road rage that resulted in traumatic injury.

On Friday, August 7, 2026, deputies located Murphy’s vehicle in the 34000 block of Gateway Drive, Palm Desert, where they conducted a vehicle stop and took him into custody without incident. A search warrant was later served at Murphy’s residence located in the 37000 block of Bankside Drive, Cathedral City. During the service of the warrant, deputies located articles of evidentiary value. Murphy was booked into the Larry D Smith Correctional Facility for a violation of probation and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details are available.
