Gun Safety Event - South Bay 

August 10, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials announce that they are partnering with the San Diego County District Attorney's Office, Chula Vista Police Department and National City Police Department to get unwanted guns off our streets. 

Join San Diego County Sheriff's Office and our law enforcement partners on Saturday, August 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a Gun Safety Event at the South Bay Superior Court, located at 500 Third Avenue in Chula Vista.

Get a gift card for your unwanted gun. Get a FREE gun cable lock while supplies last.

Join us for a Gun Safety Event on:

9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
South Bay Superior Court
500 Third Avenue, Chula Vista

Turn in your unwanted gun and receive a gift card ($100 for handguns, rifles and shotguns and $200 for assault weapons). 

Free gun locks will also be available while supplies last. 

Remain anonymous. No questions asked.

Firearms must be in working order.

Place the unloaded firearm in the trunk of your vehicle.

A deputy or officer will provide instructions.

All weapons collected will be destroyed.
