August 11, 2026 – Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department officials report that the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Elijah’s family are urgently seeking the public's assistance in identifying the person or persons responsible for his murder, who was tragically killed on February 28, 2025, in Los Angeles.

On Friday, February 28, 2025, Homicide Investigators responded to the 13100 block of Jarvis Avenue in the city of Los Angeles, to investigate the deadly shooting of 14-year-old Elijah Le’chon Novelle Davenport. The investigation determined that Elijah was erroneously identified as a gang member and subsequently victimized amid escalating violence between rival street gangs.

Unfortunately, Elijah succumbed to his gunshot wounds. Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives continue to actively investigate the case and are seeking the public's assistance in identifying those responsible.

LASD Homicide Bureau investigators held a press conference seeking the public’s help in solving the murder of 14-year-old Elijah Le’chon Novelle Davenport.

Elijah was fatally shot on February 28, 2025, while sitting inside a parked vehicle on Jarvis Avenue. Investigators believe Elijah was mistakenly identified as a gang member and became the victim of escalating violence between rival street gangs.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have information, surveillance video, dash-camera footage, or cellphone video from the area to come forward.
