Shots Fired Call Leads to Arrest
August 12, 2026 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that early this past Sunday morning around 1:30 a.m., Yuba City Police Department officers responded to Dowers Tavern regarding a report of shots fired.
Witnesses reported that a subject dressed entirely in black fired one round in the parking lot of the establishment before fleeing the area on foot.
Responding officers arrived within minutes and located the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Blake Chissie of Yuba City, in the area of Alturas Street and Shasta Street. Chissie was taken into custody without further incident.
During the investigation, officers located a home defense BB gun in Chissie’s possession that closely resembled a real firearm.
Chissie was arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail for brandishing an imitation firearm and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
This incident serves as a reminder of the potential danger associated with firearms and realistic imitation firearms in public places. Officers will continue to respond quickly to reports of violence and threats to help keep our community safe.
