Hesperia Man Identified in August 15th Deputy Involved Shooting 

August 18, 2026 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that detectives with the San Bernardino County Sheriff Reports Man Armed with a Knife ...Specialized Investigations Division determined the suspect, Jesus Armando Herrera, was bleeding from a self-inflicted injury. When the deputy arrived, Herrera refused to comply with commands and entered the aqueduct.

Herrera was able to pull himself out of the aqueduct but continued to refuse to comply with the deputy’s commands. Herrera then charged at the deputy, resulting in a deputy involved shooting. Herrera was struck by gunfire and transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.

The Specialized Investigations Division will continue the investigation and forward the case to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review upon completion.
