Fatal Collision InvestigationÂ
August 18, 2026 - Monterey Police Department officials report that on August 16, 2026, at 5:14 P.M., Monterey
Police Officers responded to Barnett Segal and Iris Canyon Road for a report of a vehicle injury accident. Officers and medical personnel arrived on scene and located a single vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree.
At the time of the collision, the vehicle was occupied by the driver and three passengers. All four occupants suffered injuries and were transported to Natividad Medical Center for medical treatment. Tragically, one passenger did not survive. The driver and the other two passengers sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The decedent will be identified by the Monterey County Sheriff's Office once next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 20-year-old Sebastian Feliciano of Dublin. Feliciano demonstrated signs of impairment, and a preliminary alcohol screening test determined his blood alcohol content was over .13%. Feliciano is currently hospitalized and receiving medical treatment. The cause of this collision is still under investigation; however, investigators will be pursuing charges of 191.5(a) PC— gross vehicular manslaughter against Feliciano upon its completion.
The vehicle involved in this collision was a 2009 silver BMW coupe convertible. Investigators believe the vehicle traveled from the Carmel area to Monterey and was involved in reckless driving incidents prior to the collision.
