August 22, 2026 – Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on August 19,2026, at
approximately 8:15 a.m., Lakewood Station deputies responded to Paramount City Hall regarding the theft of a bronze military memorial statue. The memorial consisted of a bronze statue depicting a kneeling solider and a separate bronze rifle. Surveillance video showed that at approximately 2:15 a.m., a dark-colored vehicle parked west of the memorial.
An unknown suspect exited the vehicle and removed the statue using an unknown tool before leaving the area. Due to the quality of the surveillance video, investigators were unable to obtain additional identifying information regarding the suspect or vehicle. The combined value of the stolen statue and rifle is estimated at approximately $100,000.
