Fatal Traffic Collision in Mission Viejo, Two Drivers Arrested 

August 22, 2026 – MISSION VIEJO, CA – Orange County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Thursday, August 20, at 9:41 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Los Alisos Boulevard and Mustang Run in Mission Viejo regarding a solo vehicle traffic collision. 

Deputies arrived and found Shalia Deciderio, a 21-year-old female from Rancho Santa Margarita, deceased. A preliminary investigation revealed the cause of the accident was as a result of street racing. The driver of the vehicle, involved in the collision, Jaime Rojas, 20-year-old of Mission Viejo, was transported to the hospital.  The driver of the other vehicle, Aiden Deciderio, 20-year-old of Rancho Santa Margarita, remained at the scene.  Both drivers were arrested for Vehicular Manslaughter with Gross Negligence.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is conducting the investigation into this fatal collision.
