Homicide Investigation 

August 23, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 6:36 p.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the 13000 block of Glorybower Street, in Moreno Valley, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, deputies located two males at a local fire station suffering from gunshot wounds. Both males were transported to a local hospital, where the 18-year-old resident of Moreno Valley remains in stable condition. The second male, a 17-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, was pronounced deceased. The Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

During the investigation, investigators identified 52-year-old Manuel Gomez, a resident of Moreno Valley, as the suspect. On August 21, 2026, investigators located Gomez in the 13000 block of Glorybower Street, where he was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder. The identity of the juvenile victim will not be released. This remains an ongoing investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
