Homicide Investigation 

August 23, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on August 22, 2026, at 12:23 a.m., investigators from the Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit located human remains as a result of an ongoing homicide investigation in the area of Williams Avenue and Poplar Street, Cabazon.  The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

During the investigation, the Central Homicide Unit identified Jesse Kennedy, a 48-year-old resident of Cabazon, as the suspect in this murder.  Kennedy was located in the area of Williams Avenue and Poplar Street, where he was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for murder.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
