Incarcerated Person Walks Away from Hospital
August 24, 2026 – Sutter County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on August 23, 2026, at approximately 3:53 A.M.,
Sutter County jail incarcerated person, Jerome D. Woody escaped custody from his hospital room at Adventist Health Rideout Hospital in Marysville, California. At the time of the escape, Woody was under the supervision of a private security company contracted by Sutter County to provide non-violent prisoner watches.
Local law enforcement agencies, along with Sutter County Sheriff’s Office deputies, conducted an extensive search for Woody; however, he was not located. His current whereabouts remain unknown. Woody is not believed to be armed or dangerous, and he was in custody on non-violent charges.
Jerome D. Woody is described as a 44-year-old White male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a hospital gown. Woody is listed as an unhoused transient but is known to have ties to the Yuba–Sutter area.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office requests that anyone who sees Jerome Woody or has information about his whereabouts contact the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 530-822-7307, option 9.
