August 29, 2026 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on August 28, 2026, patrol deputies with the Moorpark Police Station responded to the area of the 4600 block of Tapo Canyon Road to assist the California Highway Patrol reference a suspicious vehicle and a possible missing person.  The missing person was identified as 80-year-old Harold Murray of Simi Valley. Investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Bureau assumed the investigation and determined Harold Murray was last seen leaving his residence on August 20, 2026, and believed to have traveled to the area of the 4600 block of Tapo Canyon Road.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit and Search and Rescue conducted a thorough search of the area to locate Harold Murray.  Those efforts have been unsuccessful.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance from the public in locating Harold Murray. Harold Murray is a veteran of the armed forces, has several medical issues, and has been previously diagnosed with mental health issues.
