Fatal Vehicle vs E-Bike Collision 

August 30, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Saturday, August 29, at about 3:38 p.m., a 26-year-old male was riding an e-bike near the intersection of South Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road, in Vista.  The rider crossed South Melrose Drive against a red traffic signal and was struck by a northbound vehicle.  The rider suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

Unfortunately, the rider of the e-bike succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.  The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative.  Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the collision.  The Vista Sheriff Station's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
