October 2, 2026 – Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office officials report that detectives with the Sacramento
Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force conducted an investigation into an individual suspected of downloading Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). During the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 43-year-old Jiamo Chen of Fair Oaks. Detectives learned Chen operates a home music studio where he provides music lessons to students, many of whom are children, including some as young as four years old.
On September 30, 2026, detectives served a search warrant at Chen’s residence. During the search, detectives located evidence of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Chen was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.
At this time, detectives have not uncovered evidence indicating Chen had inappropriate physical contact with a child. However, based on the totality of the investigation and Chen’s access to children through his music instruction, detectives want to ensure no additional incidents have gone unreported.
Detectives are not currently aware of any previous reports or concerns involving Chen. Investigators believe Chen has taught music in the Sacramento area for about ten years.
Parents or guardians whose children have received music lessons from Chen are encouraged to speak with their children about their interactions with him. Anyone who becomes aware of concerning or potentially criminal conduct is asked to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency.
