What is a Hazard Tree?

August 10, 2021 - We've shared information about hazard tree removal going on in the Markleeville area. Fire-scorched trees are being cut down because they are dead or dying and may fall onto nearby roads.  Much of the wood will be made available to residents in the area.

If you're wondering how they're selecting which trees must come down, we've got some answers in this video, thanks to Anna Belle Monti, one of the Carson Ranger District foresters working to help the National Forest recover from the Tamarack Fire.

Note: Crews are currently working along Pleasant Valley Road in Marklee Village. They will also remove the hazard trees along Thornburg Canyon Road and on Hot Springs Road where it is on Forest Service land.
