SST LTRSeptember 6, 2018 - There has been more than a fair share of comment, mostly negative, about certain industries locating here in Mariposa.  The usual cries of outrage and invocations of dire consequences upon residential neighborhoods among them, the most recent being the establishment of an experimental venture known as the Biomass Project.

Whether or not this project will be as beneficial as it purports to be remains to be seen, but unequivocally the project is a step (albeit a small one) in the right direction.

What the Biomass Project will accomplish, successful or not, is to bring Mariposa into the 21st Century, establishing once and for all that the latest in technological advances through private business need not bypass our rural communities.  As a matter of fact it will prove to be of benefit both to California's overcrowded urban areas, at the same time injecting a much needed industrial base to overcome poverty, ignorance and apathy that altogether too often characterizes rural life.

I urge readers to consider carefully the foregoing points.  Yes it can and possibly will transform our way of life.  But let us put aside our misgivings just for once and give the project a chance.
