Discussion and consideration of approval to amend the Classification Plan for the Department of Community and Economic Development, effective January 1, 2018, with direction to:

1.              Amend the Classification Plan by adding the classes of Code Enforcement Officer III and Supervising Code Enforcement Officer.

2.              Set the salary ranges for the classifications as follows:

a)              Code Enforcement Officer III - Range 275 (PFB2 0115), $4,904 - $5,961 per month ($58,856 - $71,540 annually, $28.29 - $34.39 per hour).

b)              Supervising Code Enforcement Officer - Range 305 (MB2 0115), $5,753 - $6,993 per month ($69,039 - $83,918 annually, $33.19 - $40.34 per hour).

3.              Designate the Code Enforcement Officer III and Supervising Code Enforcement Officer classifications as overtime exempt, pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act, with the Code Enforcement Officer III classification receiving straight time for any overtime hours worked.

4.              Allocate the Code Enforcement Officer III class to the Professional Unit, for bargaining purposes.

5.              Allocate the Supervising Code Enforcement Officer class to the Mid-Management Unit, for bargaining purposes.

6.              Direct the Human Resources/Operations Division of County Administration to amend the Position Allocation within the Community and Economic Development Org Key #05910 (Planning Division) as follows for the 5.0 FTE existing Code Enforcement Officer I/II positions:

a)              Flex staff 4.0 FTE positions up to the Code Enforcement Officer III level (Code Enforcement Officer I/II/III).

b)              Flex staff 1.0 FTE positions up to the Supervising Code Enforcement Officer level (Code Enforcement Officer I/II/III/Supervising).
