January 29, 2018 - The California Highway Patrol reports on Sunday evening, January 28, 2018 at 6:45 P.M. Joseph M. Branco, 27, of Mariposa was driving a 2007 Saturn northbound on Ganns Corral Road, North of Little Bear Road, when for unknown reasons the vehicle drifted off of the roadway and collided with a tree.

A male passenger, 64, of Mariposa who was sitting in the front passenger seat sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to John C. Fremont Hospital in Mariposa. Upon arrival at the hospital the man was pronounced deceased.

The CHP reports the accident remains under investigation at this time but alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor.
