Master Gardeners have propagated hundreds of edible and ornamental plants such as 52 varieties of tomatoes, eight varieties of hot peppers, and four of mild peppers, for a start. There are several types of eggplant and herbs to season your dishes -- dill, summer savory, chives, mint, culinary sage, sweet basil, Thai basil, parsley, fennel and thyme. You’ll find black and gold zucchini, pumpkin, watermelon, melons, and butternut squash. There are trees and shrubs, houseplants, California natives, and drought-tolerant offerings.
As for ornamentals, they include native and drought-tolerant perennials, colorful salvias, perky petunias and zinnia. You’ll find labels on all the one-gallon pots and clearly penned names on the rows and rows of red cups. Bring a box to carry away your bounty.
The art table will have aprons, hummingbird feeders, hand-made metal garden signs, “cactus” rock gardens and painted garden tools.
