The Master Gardener program is one of the University of California Cooperative Extension services to the public.
 
Master Gardeners is not a garden club: members educate home gardeners on ways to get more out of their gardens and answer home-gardening questions.  The advice is based on hard science and peer-reviewed research.
 
Weekly training sessions begin January 14 and last into May.  The cost is $195, which includes are text books and class materials.
 
Sessions, conducted on Wednesdays, last four hours and most will be at McCay Hall in Catheys Valley.
 
All applicants will be interviewed by a panel of MGs. Trainees are assigned mentors to help them through the classes and the first year of service.
