July 17, 2018 - U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) last Thursday voted in support of H.R. 3281, the Reclamation Title Transfer and Non-Federal Infrastructure Incentivization Act, which will improve management of federal water projects and jeff denham officialexpedite vital water storage improvements and delivery to the Central Valley. The Bureau of Reclamation owns and operates dozens of water facilities in California, including major reservoirs like the Shasta Dam and New Melones Reservoir.

“Improving California’s water storage is more important now than ever to prevent water grabs like the proposed Bay-Delta plan,” said Rep. Denham. “This bill gives local communities control of and streamlines water storage infrastructure improvements.”

The bipartisan Reclamation Title Transfer and Non-Federal Infrastructure Incentivization Act will enable private investment in our water infrastructure projects by streamlining the process for local utilities and water managers, who are already responsible for operation and maintenance of Bureau of Reclamation water projects, to take ownership of federally owned water facilities. This will put Central Valley people in charge of Central Valley water and will mean faster construction and more up-to-date facilities across California.
