Special Statement
San Joaquin has issued a Valley Wide caution for smoke impacts. Stage 2 air advisories are in effect for Inyo and Mono counties.

Fire
Donnell fire was the most active fire in the South Sierra's yesterday, sending unhealthy levels of smoke along the middle fork of the Stanislaus river valley. Expect similar fire activity and smoke from Donnell fire today due to steep and challenging terrain hindering suppression efforts. Successful suppression efforts on the Ferguson and Lions fire have reduced the production of new smoke. Smoldering conditions on these fires will continue to decline as mop-up operations focus on securing perimeters.

Smoke
Light haze in the San Joaquin Valley will persist due to multiple large fires to the north. Light east winds will hold this haze in the west side communities and El Portal most of the AM. The arrival of west winds this afternoon will push Sierra smoke to the east side communities. This evening smoke will follow cooling river pathways back into Rancho, Bridgeport, Hodgdon, and Groveland. Regional smoke will continue to backfill localized clearing conditions, causing brief periods of elevated impacts.
