September 20, 2018 - Swimmers from the year-round Marlins Swim Club, including an up and coming swimmer for Mariposa County High School, attended the Bob Bowman Sun Devil Swim Camp at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona this summer. Bowman is the head swim coach at Arizona State University and was the coach of swimmer Michael Phelps, three time Olympian and the most decorated Olympian of all time. The Marlins head swim coach and Mariposa County High School swim coach Tammy Kudela also attended the camp and helped Bowman and his ASU staff. The YMSC swimmers who attended camp were (pictured with Bob Bowman right to left) freshman swimmer from Mariposa County High School Jonah Dacanay of Mariposa, Samantha Rockey of Oakhurst, Randi Johnson of Ahwahnee, and Dominic DeBernardi of Coarsegold.

The swimmers spent 5 days at the overnight camp and stayed in the university dorms. Camp consisted of in water training sessions, daily dryland training sessions, filming of athletes swimming in the water with evaluation, classroom sessions, motivational talks with special athlete guests, and coaching from ASU staff and GoSwim.
