Merced County Genealogical SocietyOctober 17, 2018 - The Merced County Genealogical Society will host their monthly meeting at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 20.

The Program is on DAR & SAR Genealogy:  This is the study of tracing the lines of descendancy from an American Revolutionary War Soldier.  DAR is for the Daughters of the American Revolution, where SAR, is for the Sons of the American Revolution.   Both are lineage-based membership service organizations who are directly descended from a person involved in the United States' efforts towards independence. They are a non-profit group; they work to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.  Accuracy of the sources and proof of the lineage are both very highly regarded.

Speaker, Corky Peterson is the past president of the Fresno County Genealogy Society.  She was Governor of the Mayflower society, registrar and regent of DAR, State Librarian and Registrar of DAR and secretary for Vasa [Swedish Society].  She is a retired Microbiology Supervisor at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla California.

Meet with the Merced County Genealogical Society in the lower level Gracey Room of the Merced County Library at 2100 O Street on Saturday, October 20 at 1:00 P.M.  The meeting is open to all, no membership is required.
