October 24, 2018 –  Yosemite National Park total recreation visitors for August 2018 was down 28.3% over August 2017 mainly due to fires in Yosemite and the surrounding areas.

The Arch Rock Entrance Station (Mariposa -Highway 140) August 2018 visitors by auto was down 52.4% compared to August 2017.

The Big Oak Flat Entrance Station (Groveland - Highway 120) August 2018 visitors by auto was down 49.9% compared to August 2017. 

The South Entrance (Oakhurst - Highway 41) August 2018 visitors by auto was down 5.1% compared to August 2017.

The Tioga Pass Entrance August 2018 visitors by auto was up 11.6% compared to August 2017. 

Park Comments:
The parks visitation was significantly impacted due to the Ferguson Fire which burned inside and outside park boundaries.
The Arch Rock/El Portal Rd. entrance was closed from 7/14 and reopened on 8/14.
The South Entrance Hwy 41/Wawona Rd. closed on 7/25 and reopened on 8/14 only to Wawona 8 miles inside the park and fully opened to Yosemite Valley on 8/24.
The Big Oak Flat Hwy 120/Big Oak Flat Rd. closed from 8/3-7, open only to the Tioga Rd. turnoff giving access to Tuolumne Meadows and Hwy 395.
The Big Oak Flat Rd opened to Yosemite Valley on 8/14.
