November 13, 2018 - The Merced County Genealogical Society is pleased to present two Family Tree DNA speakers on Saturday, November 17 at the Merced County Library at 1:00 P.M.
Founded in 2000, Family Tree DNA is the world's oldest genetic genealogy company and offers more tools and tests for genealogy than any of their competitors. Linda Magellan and Katherine Borges will present on many of these tools including DNA Project Administrator utilities, third party tools, and show users how to make the most of their DNA in Family Tree DNA.
Speakers Katherine Borges and Linda Parker are founding members of the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG), which promotes and educates about genetic genealogy to over 20,000 members in over 70 countries. They work to increase professional standards in the practice, research, and discussion of relevant issues in DNA testing, interpretation, and ethics. They give many presentations and training on genetic genealogy to groups across the United States, the United Kingdom and in Ireland. They take pleasure in putting the pieces of one’s DNA puzzle together and enjoy teaching others how to unravel the story in their DNA.
Katherine Borges is Co-Founder and Director of (ISOGG), past-Regent Turlock Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and Past-President of Captain James Davis Chapter, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century.
Linda Magellan has been a DNA Project Administrator since 2003 and is the web-master for the Journal of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG) and has experience with FamilyTree DNA, 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, and The Genographic Project.
Meet with the Merced County Genealogical Society in the lower level Gracey Room of the Merced County Library at 2100 O Street on Saturday, November 17 at 1:00 P.M. The meeting is open to all, no membership is required.
