December 12, 2014 - The Madera County Sheriff reports a popular Oakhurst thrift store that donates its proceeds to support animals was found vandalized, with nearly $1,000 worth of donated Christmas items discovered missing or destroyed.
When the owner of A Cause 4 Paws (located off of Highway 41) arrived at her thrift store yesterday, she found the property had been broken into and a storage shed, titled, “The Christmas Room,” ransacked. She discovered several ornaments missing, others broken on the floor.
A small amount of cash inside the shop’s donation box was taken, a Christmas tree swiped and holiday decorations gone.
The estimated value of stolen goods from both inside the shop’s sheds and outside on the property is over $900.
