UCCE Offers Free Jam & Jelly Workshop for Youth in Mariposa on Saturday, June 29, 2019

May 15, 2019 - By Sue Mosbacher, UCCE Master Food Preserver Program Coordinator, Central Sierra - If you attended our Fruit: Preserve It, Serve It class at McCay Hall this past September, you may have heard me talk about future classes in Mariposa County. Now I am pleased to offer our Jr. Jams & Jellies Workshop for kids on Saturday, June 29 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., in the Redbud Room at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds in Mariposa.

Kids 5 to 18 years of age are invited to sign up to make their own low-sugar jelly and enter it into the county fair. All ingredients and supplies are provided. During the online registration, kids will pick the type of jelly they want to make: apple, grape, pomegranate or orange. Kids will take home several jars of jelly that they make. Fair entry forms will be completed at the workshop and we’ll keep the fair entries to be judged.

The workshop is free, but pre-registration is required at ucanr.edu/jjj-mariposa. Contact Robin Cleveland at rkcleveland@ucanr.edu or (530) 621-5528 for more information.
