May 22, 2019 - The Madera County Sheriff's Office reports shortly after 9:00 am on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, Madera County School Resource Deputy Melanie Hopper was contacted by the sheriffprincipal of Coarsegold Elementary School to investigate possible threats made by a student.

During the course of the investigation, credible threats were verified and a student was identified.

The student, a 15 year old male juvenile, was arrested and booked in at the Madera County Juvenile Detention Center without incident.

A search of the student’s person and property did not yield any firearms, ammunition, or any type of weapon.

Current investigation indicates that the juvenile acted alone.

The investigation remains ongoing, though there is no longer any perceived threat to the school, its staff, or students.
