May 28, 2019 - Raymond- The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) reports the live fire training burn scheduled on May 28 and 29, at Eastman Lake, has been postponed. A future date is to be determined.

Previous Information:

May 20, 2019 - Mariposa - The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), in cooperation with the Army Corp of Engineers, will be conducting a live fire training at Cal FireEastman Lake within Madera County on May 28 and 29, 2019. 

If conditions are conducive, approximately 170 acres of grass and oak understory will be burned from 8 A.M. until 5 P.M. each day. 

Firefighters will be training on tactics and strategies of fire suppression, handline construction and perimeter control of wildland firefighting. 

This training will utilize multiple resources consisting of fire engines, crews, bulldozers, and water tenders.
