September 11, 2019 - Homeowners throughout the county are experiencing fire insurance cancellations, causing dire consequences for some homeowners. While some can find policies elsewhere, many are ending up with a state program that increases premiums by thousands of dollars. The problem is hitting all the rural counties very hard and finally there is a committee established to research the problem and make recommendations on solutions.

Kevin CannSupervisor Kevin Cann has been appointed to the committee to represent Mariposa County. He will give a talk about the crisis on Saturday, September 14, at the Miners Inn at 9:30 A.M. If you want to order breakfast for yourself or be sure to get a good seat, please be there by 9:00 A.M. Bring your questions for this lively discussion.

The long-time veteran of the Board of Supervisors, Cann was first elected in 2008, and has previously served on the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) board, a thirty-six-member county strong service organization that champions policies on behalf of California’s rural counties.

Free coffee, tea and water will be available. This event is open to the public and is sponsored by the Mariposa Democratic Club.
