February 3, 2015 - The Madera County Sheriff's office report an explosion occurred in Oakhurst on Monday night at about 11:00 P.M. Madera County Sheriff's Office deputies, along with CHP, Cal-Fire, and Sierra Ambulance were dispatched to the Purple Cow Mall regarding reports of an explosion that had injured an adult male.
Deputies discovered the man with serious injuries to one of his hands and found evidence that a small propane tank had exploded. The man was transported to a hospital in Fresno for treatment of his injuries. The man told deputies that he had been using a five gallon propane tank to melt some metal when the explosion occurred. There was no evidence of foul play and the incident was handled as an accidental injury.
