March 26, 2020 - Over the course of the last few weeks County staff have been working closely with the Interim Public Health Officer Dr. Sergienko and other Merced COVID 19local partners to put protocols in place to help prevent the potential spread of the coronavirus/COVID-19, as well as to be prepared in the event we had a confirmed case.

Last night the Board and I were notified of a confirmed case.

The individual is not a permanent resident but had traveled to a home they owned here in the County. The case is associated with an area of Mono County where community transmission is occurring. They self-isolated at their home, therefore, the risk for community exposure is minimal.

This means the case will not count as a case for Tuolumne but will count for the county in which they reside. Staff and hospital personnel have put the preplanned protocols in place and are responding accordingly.

The Board of Supervisors and Dr. Sergienko are dedicated to the safety of our residents and want to ensure a message was developed and released to our community immediately.

Dr. Sergienko is working on a press release that will offer additional information that will be released later today.
