June 13, 2020 - Last fall the Mariposa Library was selected as one of 14 libraries in the state to sponsor a writing workshop as part of the 2020 Rural Libraries Tour funded by California Center for the Book and Poets & Writers. Due to the Corona virus, the workshop had to be cancelled. However, the Library was given the option of hosting an online story sharing and writing event with StoryCenter, a non-profit organization based in Berkeley that “trains people to share stories from their lives.”

The workshop will take place on Wednesday, July 1 from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. and is limited to 20 people. Participants will write a one-page story in response to a simple prompt, receive feed-back from the group and then have a chance to re-write and share the edited version.  The gathering will be led by a StoryCenter facilitator with years of experience in helping people share stories in a supportive environment.

Participants must have Internet access and a computer, smartphone, or tablet capable of running Zoom conference software. (Most newer devices have this capability.) To register simply complete the brief application at https://www.storycenter.org/story-gathering-workshop-mariposa-county. The first 20 registrants will be accepted.
