ABC Valedictorian Luke Atkins

June 23, 2020 - Among the many items Mariposa County High School valedictorians picked up from school on June 10 was a package from the MCHS Academic Boosters Club containing a gift card to Savoury’s Restaurant, a Visa gift card, commemorative booklets for themselves and their families, and cards of congratulations. Sierra Tel's generous donation helped make these gifts possible. Sierra Sisters Designs designed the booklet and one of the gift cards.

MCHS awards Valedictorian status to multiple students each school year. To qualify, students must take the most rigorous courses offered at MCHS as determined by the classes available upon their entry as freshmen. Their course load must include four years of math (through pre-calculus), four years of science with three being lab sciences, three years of the same foreign language, Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature and AP English Language, and all Honors and AP classes available to the student. Valedictorian students must earn a “B” or higher in all classes. Earning the title of Valedictorian is quite a feat. Congratulations to MCHS 2020 Valedictorians on this superb academic achievement.

Typically, the MCHS Academic Boosters Club honors these students with a special dinner at a local restaurant involving their family members, mentors, and a guest speaker. While ABC is unable to bring the class of 2020 valedictorian students together in this way given COVID-19 related restrictions, the organization is pleased to honor these students with $100 gift certificates to Savoury's Restaurant so that they can celebrate with their families, $50 Visa gift cards, and keepsake brochures for themselves and their parents highlighting their achievements. ABC wishes to thank Sierra Tel for its generous donation which helped make this possible. Way to go, Grizzly Valedictorians!
