September 23, 2020 - The U.S. Forest Service reports smoke and air quality outlook for the San Joaquin-Yosemite areas, due to the Creek Fire.

Fire: Active fire behavior continues on the Creek Fire due to hot and dry weather. Fire activity is expected to intensify again this afternoon as smoke lifts and the sun heats surface fuels. For the latest Creek Fire fire information and details, go to: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/videos/7147/

Smoke: Heavy smoke continues to hang in valleys and basins this morning, affecting most communities surrounding the Creek Fire. Daytime heating will allow smoke to lift and drift easterly this afternoon. This should provide for some improvement in areas on the west side of the fire, such as Mariposa and Millerton. However, communities east and nearest the fire are expected to remain in heavy smoke throughout the day.

Notes: Sensitive populations more susceptible to smoke impacts include children, the elderly, people with heart or lung problems, and people with respiratory illnesses.
