October 28, 2020 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports the combination of dry fuels and low relative humidity values can contribute to erratic fire behavior today through Friday evening in the Sierra Nevada and Kern County mountains.

Any fires that develop will likely spread quickly.

  .SYNOPSIS... 
  A warming trend is expected today through Friday. High 
  temperatures this weekend into early next week will be well above 
  normal for this time of year. Dry weather will persist for the  
  foreseeable future.  
   
  && 
   
  .DISCUSSION... 
  An area of high pressure will build eastward across California 
  today and tonight. High temperatures this afternoon will be around 
  five degrees warmer than yesterday. A Rex Block will set up over 
  the Eastern Pacific Ocean Thursday through Friday night. High 
  temperatures Thursday afternoon will be six to eight degrees  
  above normal for this time of year. Maximum temperatures Friday  
  afternoon will be around ten degrees above their typical values 
  for the end of October.  
   
  The area of high pressure in the northern portion of the Rex Block 
  will gradually weaken Saturday and Saturday night, before opening 
  up into a ridge of high pressure Sunday, leading to the 
  dissipation of the Rex Block. An area of low pressure aloft will  
  be located in the vicinity of Southern California early next week. 
  High temperatures each afternoon Saturday through Tuesday will be 
  around ten degrees above normal for this time of year. Dry weather 
  will persist for at least the next seven days.

  .AVIATION... 
  VFR conditions will prevail at MCE, MER, FAT, VIS, and BFL through 
  at least the next 24 hours. MVFR visibilities and localized IFR  
  visibilities due to smoke and haze are expected in the Sierra  
  Nevada today and tonight.

  .FIRE WEATHER... 
  Elevated fire weather conditions are expected in the Sierra Nevada 
  and Kern County mountains today through Friday. The combination of 
  arid fuels and rather dry afternoon minimum relative humidity  
  values can contribute to erratic fire behavior. Any fires that 
  develop will likely spread quickly.
