April 2, 2021 - Physical Therapist, Dan Cassady Retires after a Long Career Bringing Comfort and Relief to Patients at John C. Fremont Healthcare District and the Mariposa Community.

JCF Dan CassadyIt was an emotional board meeting last Wednesday, March 24th, as the District Board and staff congratulated Dan Cassady for his service to the District and Mariposa since 1984 and wished him the very best years of retirement. Dan is a well-known and respected physical therapist to many in Mariposa especially for providing them comfort and relief.

Dan said, "I am 74 1/2 years old, so age had a lot to do with my decision to retire. I was working 13-hour days and spending little time with my family."

Dan has been practicing physical therapy for 41 years. He obtained his degree from Fresno State.

Dan continued to say, "I wanted to be a physical therapist from a young age. I have always enjoyed keeping fit. Since I was 17 years old and had my first motor bike and had a bad accident. I shattered my leg which had to be pinned back together. I enjoy speed but with speed, comes accidents and I have broken lots of body parts. My first job was working at a motorcycle shop. Physical therapy helps people get back up and moving again, similar to building bikes, I build people it is a very rewarding career."

Dan's first day of retirement is April 1, 2021 and he plans to have a leisurely cup of coffee with his wife, play with his four dogs, four horses and one cat. "I will plan motorcycle trips with my wife, we will visit national parks, take our horses horse riding, dust down the mountain bikes. I can't wait!"

Dan's staff members, Matt Golden and Chris D'Amico said, "We couldn't ask for a better person to work for. He treats us like family. He is supportive, caring, and friendly. The community has been anticipating his retirement but not wanting it, he is a great asset to the community."

Mariposa Physical Therapy will continue to provide care to patients at its current location of 5072 Bullion Street. Over the next few months, while we are recruiting for a replacement for Dan, the District will make physical improvements to Mariposa Physical Therapy building.
