April 27, 2021 - Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office updates information on April 22 murder-suicide in Yosemite West.

Victim and Suspect Identified:

Victim- Roland Goldberg, age 31 from Lebanon, Missouri.

Suspect- Elisabeth Shauck, age 22 from Salinas, California.

The gun used, a Glock model 17 was registered to Shauck.

Goldberg and Shauck were in a long-term dating relationship and at this time is appears the two were on vacation in the Yosemite West community.

Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office Reports Possible Murder-Suicide in Yosemite West

April 23, 2021 - The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office reports on Thursday, April 22, 2021 Mariposa County Deputies responded to the area of Yosemite West, a community within Mariposa County, for a report of a possible deceased person. Upon arrival deputies confirmed two deceased individuals: one adult male and one adult female, who we believe are visitors to Mariposa County.

Mariposa County Sheriff Detectives are working the case along with the California Department of Justice Fresno Crime Lab.  As of now, preliminary evidence collected during the investigation have led investigators to believe this is a case of murder suicide. At this time, we believe the female shot the male multiple times before taking her own life. There are no additional persons of interest.

At this time the names of the victim and suspect are being withheld until next of kin notification is complete.

The investigation is still in the very early stages, additional details will be released once the investigation is complete.
