May 5, 2021 - SACRAMENTO - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), California will host a statewide virtual public hearing, Thursday, May 13, from 4 to 6 p.m., to discuss the use of motorized vehicles and aircraft in the monitoring and management of wild horses and burros on public lands managed by the BLM in California and northwest Nevada. Registration is required.

At the hearing, anyone interested will have the opportunity to comment on the BLM’s use of motor vehicles, helicopters, and airplanes to estimate wild horse or burro populations, gather and remove excess animals from public lands, monitor wild herds, and to transport animals to BLM corrals throughout California. This annual public hearing covering 12 months of activities in 2021 and 2022 is required by the Federal Land Policy and Management Act.

Participants must register for the Zoom meeting at https://blm.zoomgov.com/meeting/register/vJItd-mtpzMsHcDGG5w1wF_SWOIRTENMeXg. After registering, participants will receive an email with instructions and a link to join the meeting. Those wishing to speak will be called in order of registration and given an opportunity to testify. The time allotted to each individual will depend on the number of speakers and the time available. Those unable to join online will be welcome to participate by phone. Those who use the phone feature must register at the above link and will receive phone numbers in their confirmation email.
