May 11, 2021 - Mariposa - The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will be conducting a live fire training at Eastman Lake in cooperation with Madera County Fire, and Cal FireArmy Corp of Engineers on May 19 and 20.

If conditions are conducive, approximately 200 acres of grass and oak understory will be burned from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

Firefighters will be training on tactics and strategies of fire suppression, handline construction and perimeter control of wildland firefighting. This training will utilize multiple resources consisting of fire engines, crews, bulldozers, and water tenders.
