June 14, 2021 - The Tuolumne County Sheriff reports on early Friday morning, June 11, 2021, Gary Gilliam,59, of Newark called and reported a disturbance between him and “his date” at a local hotel.

When deputies arrived, they located a teenage female inside the hotel room suffering from a medical emergency.

The victim was transported to the hospital and an investigation was initiated. Through investigation it was determined Gilliam had provided the victim illegal drugs in exchange for sex.

Gilliam was arrested for various sex crimes involving a minor, solicitation of a minor, possession of drugs for sale, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Due to the age of the victim and nature of the incident, no further information will be released.

The investigation is still ongoing, but there are no other potential victims at this time.
